A rotator cuff tear is a tear in the group of four muscles and tendons that stabilize your shoulder joint and elevate and rotate your arm. It is also known as a complete tear or full tear. There are two types of rotator cuff tears. A partial tear occurs when one of the muscles that make up the rotator cuff is damaged or destroyed. The other is a complete crack. One that goes through the tendon or pulls the tendon away from the bone.
